1) Google and Apple teaming up-The two companies have announced a joint project to create a contact-tracing apps that can work with both iOS and Android phones using Bluetooth technology (Greenberg,2020).

2) How to provide privacy while tracking- The app will use a phone’s Bluetooth radio track of whether the owner has encountered someone who later turns out to have been infected. The system won’t involve tracking of user locations or collecting of identifying data to be stored on a server (Greenberg,2020).

3) Other than COVID, what can we track- With this technology the sky would be the limit, we could track convicts, sex offenders, other illnesses, even our children and animals.

4) Obstacles- Several factors play into obstacles like getting a reliable signal can be a challenge even under seemingly ideal conditions things like walls and even pants can block or distort signals. Bluetooth is a low power signal and using the apps constantly sending signals will shorten battery life (Servick, 2020).

5) How to make everybody accessible-the app enables the individual’s phone to continuously send out random data strings and keep a log of those from other participating devices it has encountered. All other participants would be able to initiate a scan of the collective logs through their own app and, if any of their outbound signals match an instance stored in the cloud, would be warned of a potential (but still anonymous) COVID-19 contact. The system also keeps track of the approximate distance between everyone’s device and that of their contact, as well as a rough estimate of the time they spent in range of each other (Muoio,2020).
